I’ve watched the leaves fall on the empty courtyards. The thieves have long since looted these halls. No longer the echo the laughter, no longer the shadows of night that crawl upon the phantoms of cradles.
No longer the wars that ravage the keep walls. None the watch upon the battlements, none the clearing of trumpets and the arrival of the lords of these lands.
None even the graves of the line that once held title to these walls.
They’re all gone.
Even their ghosts have since left to what gates that would have them.
Every shade that falls now upon this keep lies lonely.
No shadows to follow the footsteps of the next heir. None for the last.
Just the rest of eternity of what was once a home.
One last farewell, and I’m gone.
